Mounds View Festival in the Park set for August 19

It’s that time of year again! The annual Mounds View Festival in the Park is coming up on Saturday, Aug. 19 at City Hall Park, 2401 County Road 10.

The all-volunteer organization begin planning this Mounds View staple the day after it concludes each year. A year-long process, the Mounds View Festival in the Park committee is excited for residents to enjoy this family-friendly event.

The Festival in the Park 5K will kick things off at 8:30 a.m. at Silver View Park, 2700 County Road I. Race packets are available for pickup between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Aug. 18 at the Mound View Community Center, 5394 Edgewood Drive. Race day packet pickup will begin at 7:45 to 8:15 a.. at Silver View Park.

This year’s annual parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Bronson Drive and Edgewood Drive, proceed down Bronson, right on Quincy Street, right on County Road H2 W then back toward Bronson on Jackson Drive.

The MV FIP Sprint bike races are back again. The fastest bike racers from around the Midwest will be roaring around Mounds View. Residents also have the opportunity to give bike racing a go in the beginners’ race.

New this year is a kids bike rodeo, which will be taking place from noon to 1 p.m. at the Multi-Tech Systems back parking lot.

The annual car show will be taking place all day from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the trophy presentation scheduled at 2 p.m. at the North Ball Field. Food, crafts, games and fun for the whole family will also be happening all day at City Hall Park. The Mounds View Police Department and Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View Fire Department will also be in attendance with various activities for residents to enjoy throughout the day.

This year’s musical performance is Jonah and the Whales, who will be performing on the main stage from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Fireworks will end the night after the show at 9:40 p.m.
