Questionable weather turned into clear skies for the Schwan’s USA CUP opening ceremony, held Tuesday at Blaine’s National Sports Center. More than 1,100 teams from 17 states, five Canadian provinces and 15 countries are competing in the youth soccer tournament.

The Opening Ceremony is an Olympic-style parade of teams featuring the U.S. Navy’s Leap Frog skydiving team, fireworks and lighting of the cauldron.

Teams walked around the field at National Sports Center Stadium in front of packed bleachers until filling in the field. Team colors, cultural costumes, country and state flags, face paint and team banners made for a electric ceremony.

The USA CUP tournament was held July 18-22.
