Ramsey County Library summer reading program underway

School is out and Ramsey County Library’s summer reading program has begun. Bookawocky is a non-competitive program designed to inspire and encourage children of all ages to read and learn throughout the summer.

Prize levels are available for youth ages four and under, ages 5-1 and ages 12-19 until Aug. 13.

Children ages four and under can participate in the 100 Book Challenge. Studies have shown that reading with children builds listening, memory and concentration skills; assists with language development; increases vocabulary; and introduces concepts like letters, numbers, shapes and colors in a fun way.

From ages five to 11, kids can pick up a summer activity booklet and read, explore and create with activities listed inside. After eight activities are completed, booklets are redeemable at any Ramsey County Library for a prize.

Teens ages 12 to 19 are invited to reads books and complete online book reviews. These book reviews will be entered into a weekly drawing for gift cards or Minnesota State Fair tickets. Every review entered also allows for a chance to win one of the $50 Visa gift card grand prizes.
