Mounds View Public Works Director Brian Erickson has resigned as Mounds View public works director and city engineer and will be taking on a similar position in Rosemount.
Erickson has worked in this position for two years and has contributed to many accomplishments in Mounds View.
He said he is excited about the completion of the Street and Utility Improvement Plan project which will be finished near the end of July. He said he also enjoyed being part of the plans and construction of the new public works building.
“That project has been a lot of work but its been fun,” Erickson said. “It’s going to be a great project when it’s done, helping the staff by giving them enough room, taking care of the equipment and getting [the staff] the new building that they really need.”
There has not been an official announcement for who will take on the role as interim public works director. Erickson said it will likely be
Public Works Supervisor Don Peterson who previously served in the interim position prior to Erickson’s arrival.
Erickson said a big factor in his decision will be more family time, as driving to Rosemount will cut his commute time by about 50 percent.
“I’ve absolutely loved working in Mounds View,” he said. “I’ve truly enjoyed working with all the folks on the staff, the residents, and just being part of the Mounds View culture. There really are a lot of good things going on here.”
Erickson will be leaving Mounds View on July 14 and will be taking on his new role in Rosemount on July 17.
The Mounds View public works department also has two employees retiring in the month of July. Waste Water Operator Jeff Wienke has served the city for 28 years and Engineering and IT Technician Jim Hess has served the city for 25 years.
