Barbara Jean Rogers

Barbara Jean Rogers was born on February 8, 1941, and died peacefully on June 12, 2017–Loving Day–at Saint Therese at St. Odilia. The youngest of 12 siblings in an Irish Catholic family, she grew up in Sturgis, SD; graduated from Northern State University in Aberdeen; and as a young woman settled in Fridley where she raised her own family.
Barb is remembered fondly as a kind and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, wife, colleague and dear friend. She was a long-time member, memorable lector and active volunteer at Church of St. William in Fridley. She taught English, drama, and language skills in public high schools in St. Anthony Village and St. Paul, and was an instructor and manager for an education company. She also was a businesswoman, nursing student, stage performer and director, avid reader of news and poetry, bowler and kitchen dancer with an infectious laugh. Throughout her life she prayed and advocated for peace and social justice.
Barb is survived by two children, Kari and Erik, and daughter-in-law Constance; three grandchildren, Grace, Esme and Aengus; her dear friend Ron; two sisters, Mary and Kathleen, sister-in-law Barb and brother-in-law Paul; and loving nieces and nephews.
If you met Barb, you were friends. We hope you felt her deep faith, generosity and love.
A funeral mass was held at Church of St. William with burial in Sturgis. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Families Moving Forward at Church of St. William or Our Lady of Peace Hospice in St. Paul.
