SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

FEBRUARY 14, 2017

Chair Larkin called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

HYLANDER HIGHLIGHTS

The Board honored Columbia Heights High School Assistant Principal John Kulick for receiving the Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction Award from the National Society of High School Scholars.

AGENDA APPROVAL/ADJUSTMENTS, ANNOUNCEMENTS, CORRESPONDENCE

A. Approval of Agenda motion by Palmer, seconded by Asamarai, to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried.

COMMUNICATION TO THE BOARD Mary Rose Granlund, 949 44th Avenue NE, and 4537 5th Street NE spoke about gym class curriculum at Valley View Elementary.

CONSENT AGENDA: Motion by Severson, seconded by Lewis, to approve the action required for implementation of the items on the consent agenda. Minutes of the January 10 and 24 School Board Meetings, January 3 Organizational Meeting and January 17 Work Session and personnel report of February 14, 2017. Motion Carried

INFORMATION ITEMS: Reports from Members of the Board, Superintendent Report, Columbia Academy Video, Columbia Academy Window Replacement, Summer Programming, Summer Program Collaboration with St. Anthony-New Brighton, American Indian Education Information Update, 2017-2018 School Calendar, Special Education Cross Subsidy Columbia Heights, Community Education Adventure Club/Mini Adventure Club Fees, Achievement and Integration Plan, Curriculum Cycle and Update, School Board Recognition Week.

TEACHER/ECFE TEACHER SENIORITY LIST: Motion by Lewis, seconded by Palmer, to approve the 2016-2017 Teachers Seniority List and the 2016-2017 ECFE Teachers Seniority List, as presented. Motion carried.

SENIORITY LIST APPROVAL: Motion by Asamarai, seconded by Severson, to approve the Education Assistant, Lunch Duty Monitor, Custodial, Clerical, and Food Service Employees Seniority Lists, as presented.

Motion carried.

BOARD POLICY SECOND READING: Motion by Palmer, seconded by Lewis, to approve the 807 Health and Safety policy, as recommended. Motion carried.

Having completed all of the items on the regular agenda, at 9:03 p.m. Chair Larkin adjourned the meeting.
