COLUMBIA HEIGHTS PUBLIC SCHOOLS SCHOOL BOARD MEETING MARCH 21, 2017
Chair Larkin called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Members present: Ms. Asamarai, Mr. Larkin, (via Go to Meeting) Ms. Lewis, Ms. Mueller, Ms. Palmer, Ms. Severson and Superintendent Kelly

A. Approval of Agenda motion by Severson, seconded by Palmer, to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried

COMMUNICATION TO THE BOARD None
CONSENT AGENDA: Motion by Asamarai, seconded by Mueller, to approve the action required for implementation of the items on the consent agenda. Approve minutes of the February 14 and 28 School Board Meetings, February 21 Work Session, the February 21 Special Called Meeting, Treasurers Reports for December 2016 and January 2107. Personnel Report for March 21, 2017. Motion Carried
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF CONTRIBUTIONS RESOLUTION:
Motioned by Lewis, seconded by Severson: Whereas: Minnesota Statute 123B.02 permits school boards to …receive, for the benefit of the district, bequests, donations, or gifts for any proper purpose and apply the same to the purpose designated. In that behalf, the board may act as trustee of any trust created for the benefit of the district, and for the benefit of pupils thereof.
Therefore: Be it resolved by the School Board of Columbia Heights Public Schools, Independent School District No. 13 that the School Board accepts with appreciation the contributions, detailed in the background, in the amount of $4,525.00.
DETAILED BACKGROUND: MONETARY: A donation of $20.00 was made to Valley View Elementary by Tom Wojcik for student needs. A donation of $200.00 was made to Columbia Heights Public Schools by Financial One for High School study seminar. A donation of $200.00 was made to Columbia Heights Public Schools by Bromley Printing for High School study seminar. A donation of $500.00 was made to Columbia Academy by Betty Tisel for Concordia Language Field Trip. The following donations were made to Columbia Heights High School Scholarship Program: Kiwanis Key Club $2,000.00, Northeast State Bank $500.00, Robert Nygaard – $20.00, Jack and Dee Gause – $25.00, Karen and Steve Wolgamot – $1,000.00. VALUE IN KIND: Donation of hats and gloves to Valley View Elementary by Honeywell E & ES Sales for winter basic needs. Estimated value of $17.00. Donation of winter coats to Valley View Elementary by Apani Chavez for student needs. Estimated value of $18.00. Donation of used books to North Park Elementary by Bobbie Grafritz for student needs. Estimated value of $25.00. Total fiscal year 2016-2017 monetary contributions to date: $60,667.54. Roll call vote: Roll call vote: Asamarai-Aye; Severson-Aye; Lewis-Aye; Larkin-Aye; Palmer-Aye; Mueller-Aye. Motion carried and resolution adopted.
