The community is invited to a free concert with Ginny Owens at Oak Hill Baptist Church in Columbia Heights on Friday, April 28, at 7 p.m. Owens will share music from her new album, Love Be The Loudest, during the event.
According to Jim Vogel, Oak Hill’s worship director, “Ginny has a way of connecting with audiences that touches hearts and lives, reminding people that God loves them. Audiences return again and again to hear her.”
As a three-time Dove Award winner, Owens has been successful in both Christian and mainstream music venues. She has traditionally produced lyrically-driven, acoustical-styled music, but recently began exploring pop and electronic dance music. Using this format, she chose to play out new themes from recent personal challenges she faced. The album title comes from a line in the song encouraging listeners to ignore other voices and focus only on God’s voice since “Love be the loudest voice.”
In addition to testing a new musical style, Owens collaborated with several artists who lent their vocals to the project, including Big Daddy Weave’s Mike Weaver, Ellie Holcomb, Meredith Andrews and All Sons & Daughters.
“We welcome both regular church members and visitors to this concert to experience hope and comfort while enjoying the music,” says Pastor Emeritus David Briley.
A free-will offering will be taken during the concert to defray Owens’ travel expenses and copies of her music will be available for purchase. Refreshments will be offered following the concert.
Oak Hill Baptist Church is located at 4141 University Ave NE, Columbia Heights.
