The Tigers ended with a 69-38 loss to Holy Angels Feb. 24. The Holy Angels girls basketball team won the Class 3A state title last season. The Stars ended the regular season with a 22-3 regular season record, and they earned the top seed in the Section 3AAA tournament.

Fridley opened 4AAA section play Thursday, March 2, against St. Anthony Village. The winner of that game will meet the winner of the Totino-Grace vs. St. Paul Como Park game, also being played Thursday night.

Other teams in the section are Mahtomedi (the No. 1 seed), DeLaSalle and Hill-Murray. Section semifinals will be played Saturday, March 4, and the section championship game will be played Thursday, March 9. The state girls basketball tournament will run March 14-18.
