Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts is partnering with Grandpa’s Ice Cream in Fridley to celebrate National Ice Cream month in July. Everyone is invited to participate in an open call ice cream art exhibition that will be on view in the Banfill-Locke Hallway Gallery from July 6-23.
Artists of all ages are invited to participate and all two-dimensional art that is ice cream themed. All art will be included in the exhibition as long as it does not exceed 36 inches on any side. Art needs to be labeled on the back with the artist’s name, email, phone number, medium and title. Art can be dropped off at Banfill-Locke, 6666 East River Road, Fridley, from June 21 to July 2 (open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday). 3D art will need to be approved in advance as space is limited.
All visitors to the exhibition are invited to vote for their favorite art work for the People’s Choice Award. Winners get a $20 gift certificate to Banfill-Locke and $20 to Grandpa’s Ice Cream. Artists and all fans of ice cream are invited to attend a reception that includes Grandpa’s Ice Cream on Monday, July 11, from 5-7 p.m.
