City of Mounds View seeking nominations for Citizen of the Year
Deadline for applications is March 8
Mounds View is accepting applications for the 2012 Citizen of the Year.
During the Feb. 4 City Council work session, City Administrator Jim Ericson said the Citizen of the Year program recognizes ordinary citizens who have demonstrated initiative to improving the community.
Eligibility requirements include being a resident, business owner or landowner in Mounds View. Current elected officials, city employees, city contractors and former Citizen of the Year recipients are not eligible.
Selection criteria include someone who exemplifies courage, initiative, time commitment, effectiveness and unselfishness.
The deadline for applications is Wednesday, March 8, and applications are available on the city’s website at ci.mounds-view.mn.us. The City Council will review the nominations on April 1.
Mayor Joe Flaherty said the Citizen of the Year award is the highest award that the city gives out.
“We know that there are quite a few people out there who continue to do good things on behalf of the city,” he said.
