Irondale looks to late season push in girls basketball
As the girls high basketball season continues to wind down, many teams will start looking to make a late season push. Irondale (5-9-0; 3-2) looks poised to be one of those teams.
With victories coming in their last two games against Mound-Westonka (53-45) and Columbia Heights (59-56) have pulled them two and a half games of first place in the North Suburban Conference. Senior forward Brooke Degelau continues to be a bright spot on this Irondale team as she is averaging just over nine points per game and over 12 points per game on this two-game winning streak.
The next five games that Irondale plays will have a major influence on what position they will be playing for the entire last month of the season as they are all against North Suburban Conference opponents. This stretch, beginning with North Branch on Jan. 15, will continue to build up until and end-of-the month showdown with number-one in conference team Benilde-St. Margaret’s who is currently undefeated in conference matchups.
