Special events
- Custard, Sprinkles, Santa and a Holiday Party: 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Murzyn Hall, 530 Mill St. N.E., Columbia Heights. Middle School students will perform a play, “Recapturing Christmas.” Children can have photos, custard, punch and cookies with Santa. For ages three and up with parents, admission costs $7 per child. Pre-registration is required.
Sports
- Youth wrestling (for grades 2-8) and youth basketball (for grades 3-6) can take a few more participants. Call for more information.
- New: Sports sampler for boys and girls, grades K-2, runs Mondays beginning Dec. 3. Cost is $35.
- Winter Gymnastics, for boys and girls ages 3 and up, runs Tuesdays, Jan. 8 through Feb. 26. Cost is $40.
- Winter Dance, for ages 3 and up, runs Wednesdays, Jan. 14 to March 18 (no class on Jan. 21 and Feb. 18). Cost is $40.
- Martial arts classes: Little Tigers, for ages 3-6, runs Jan. 17 to Feb. 7 and costs $30 per participant. Tae Kwon Do, for ages 6 and up, runs Jan. 10 to Feb. 14 and costs $40.
Youth trips: Pre-registration is required for these no-school-day trips.
- Wild Chutes snow tubing at Wild Mountain on Wednesday, Dec. 26. Cost is $10.
- Zero Gravity and Science Museum of Minnesota on Thursday, Dec. 27. Cost is $8.
- Skiing at Wild Mountain on Friday, Dec. 28. Cost is $15.
Classes
- The Zumba dance fitness class, meeting 7-8 p.m. Wednesdays, has room for more participants.
- Crochet classes meet in two sessions, Jan. 10 to Feb. 21 and March 7 to April 11. Both sessions cost $10 each.
- New: Ice Skating with Tiffany offers skating for grades 2-8 in two sessions Saturdays, Jan. 5 to Feb. 2, at Ostrander Park. The beginner session is for grades 2-5 and open skate is for grades 6-8. Both sessions cost $15.
- New: Holiday cookie baking for kids, grades 4-8, meets Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 10 and 11. Cost is $25.
- Youth Cupcake Wars, for grades 6-9, meets Mondays and Thursdays, Jan. 28, 31, Feb. 4 and 7. Cost is $25.
- Creative Puppetry Script Writing, for grades 4-9, meets Mondays, Feb. 25 to March 18. Cost is $20.
