Thank you for making Sister Cities fundraiser a success

To the Editor:

Many, many sincere thank you’s to Sister Cities member Jeff Bahe (Jeff’s Bobby & Steve’s AutoWorld, Columbia Heights). His generosity made the Oct. 21 fundraiser, held at Murzyn Hall, for our Sister Cities a wonderful success.

Jeff, his family and AutoWorld team members again donated, prepared and served a great meal – which is the highlight of our event. Their contributions enable our Sister Cities group to fund various humanitarian projects – locally and in our Sister City of Lomianki, Poland. (Our previous fundraiser was in April 2010).

Attendees were also treated to entertainment provided by St. Mary’s Balalaika musicians and accordionist, John Kujda.

Thanks you also to Immaculate Conception Troop 119 Boy Scouts (and parents) who were a big help bussing tables and manning the dishwasher. (Is there a merit badge for that?) Volunteers from the Lion’s staffed the cash bar.

We appreciate all the donations for our Lomianki Children’s Hospital Box, Silent Auction, International Bazaar, Vintage Boutique, etc.

To all the volunteers who were so very helpful from the planning stages, promotion and publicity, assisting with the event, to the final clean-up – well done, everyone. Columbia Heights gets an A+ for community spirit. Dziekuje bardzo – thank you very much!
