Looking ahead: Swimming, state football 5A and 6A
State swimming slate
It will be a busy weekend for state high school swimmers and their fans.
The University of Minnesota Aquatic Center is the site of the State Class AA and A swimming and diving meets.
Action gets underway at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15 with state Class A diving preliminaries. State AA diving prelims start at 6 p.m.
Swimming preliminaries will be conducted at noon Friday, Nov. 16. Class AA competition begins at 6 p.m.
State Class A swimming and diving finals are noon Saturday, Nov. 17. Class AA finals start at 6 p.m.
State football 5A
Four teams remain in the State Class 5A football tournament. Totino-Grace plans Bemidji at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17.
St. Thomas Academy plays Owatonna Friday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m.
All games are at the Metrodome.
State football 6A
It should be an entertaining and exciting contest at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, when Eden Prairie (9-2) and Wayzata (9-1) meet in the State Class 6A semifinals at the Metrodome.
Eden Prairie is seeking revenge for a 16-0 loss to the Trojans late during the regular season.
Eden Prairie advanced to the semifinals after holding on to defeat Minnetonka 21-18 in the quarterfinals last week. Wayzata displayed its talent by beating Eastview 35-21 in another quarterfinal game.
The other two teams competing in the 6A semis are Rosemount and Lakeville North. They play Thursday night, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m.
