Summer Brills victorious in state finals

Mounds View Junior Summer Brills is the 2012 girls tennis class AA state champion.
Number one seeded Brills did not have a challenge defeating all of her opponents in straight sets until she went up against Faith Lee, a senior from Andover. Lee gave Brills something to worry about by splitting the first two sets. Brills however, proved why she was seeded first overall as she proceeded to put any doubts to bed in the final set by defeating Andover’s Lee 6-2 and advance to the state championship.
In the championship Brills ran up against a red-hot seventh grader in Sophia Reddy from Edina. Reddy was ready to surprise everyone by managing to split the first two sets with Brills. In the final set Brills just proved to be much more conditioned and title-hungry as she defeated Reddy 6-1 to capture the state championship.
Mounds View also competed in the state doubles and team portions of the tournament but both were eliminated in quarterfinals.
