Bernardy back in legislature for HD41A

Connie Bernardy, DFL-Fridley, bested Dale Helm, R-Fridley, for the Minnesota House of Representatives District 41A seat.

House District 41A includes Fridley and the north half of New Brighton. The term for this seat is two years.

Bernardy took 12,653 votes, or 61.6 percent, while Helm took 7,829 votes, or 38.1 percent. Preliminary results are considered unofficial until canvassed at a later date.

Bernardy was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2000 and served until September 2006, when she resigned and then worked as a government-relations specialist for Education Minnesota into 2007.

Helm is a 21-year military veteran, who retired as a senior Captain of Field Artillery. He previously ran for the house seat against Tom Tillberry in 2010.
